Why have your awning fitted by a professional?
A fully extended patio awning puts a load of several hundred kilograms on its anchor points. An approximate fixing, a poorly assessed wall or a badly set pitch, and the first strong gust will rip it off the façade — followed by an emergency call-out that costs far more than a proper installation would have. At Store Xpress, every awning installation begins with a free technical survey: we assess the nature of your façade, the exposure to wind and sun, the available height, and any building or planning constraints — a real consideration in co-owned Parisian buildings (copropriétés) and in the city's protected streetscapes.
This preliminary study lets us recommend the right model, the right projection and the right wind-resistance class, and then guarantee an installation that is durable, quiet and perfectly aligned. If you are new to French property rules, we will also walk you through the approvals your building may require, in plain English. Every installation is covered by a parts and labour guarantee and can be extended with an annual maintenance plan.
Which model for your project?
The full cassette: maximum protection
When retracted, a full cassette awning encloses the fabric and arms entirely within a lacquered aluminium housing. Rain, frost, dust and urban pollution can no longer reach them: it is the longevity choice, especially relevant on exposed façades and busy streets. Its clean lines sit just as comfortably on a Haussmann-era apartment building as on a contemporary villa.
The semi-cassette: the budget-durability balance
The semi-cassette shelters the fabric under a rigid hood while the arms remain visible. It offers very good protection at a lower price than a full cassette, and suits most residential terraces in the region.
The open awning: robust and economical
Mounted on a sturdy torsion bar with no housing at all, the open (non-cassette) awning is popular for wide spans and tighter budgets. We recommend it when the mechanism is already sheltered by a balcony, a loggia or a roof overhang.
Fabrics, dimensions and options
- Solution-dyed acrylic fabric: the benchmark for UV and fade resistance, available in dozens of plain and striped colourways.
- Micro-perforated screen fabric: lets air circulate and preserves the view out — ideal for cutting heat on verandas and shop windows.
- Width: from 1.80 m for a Parisian balcony to 12 m and beyond in coupled modules for a restaurant terrace.
- Projection: from 1.50 m to 4 m, chosen according to the sun's path and the depth of shade you need.
- Options: fixed or drop-down windbreak valance, LED lighting built into the arms, radiant heating, and of course motorisation with a wind sensor and radio remote control.

How our teams install your awning
- 1. Free technical survey: laser measurements, wall assessment, check of the electrical supply, and advice on co-ownership (copropriété) formalities.
- 2. Detailed quote: model, fabric, options and installation itemised line by line, sent within 24 hours.
- 3. Made-to-measure manufacture: your awning is built to the exact dimensions, typically within two to four weeks.
- 4. Anchoring: chemical or mechanical fixings sized for the material — dressed stone, concrete, hollow brick, breeze block, timber frame, or externally insulated façades fitted with thermal-break sleeves.
- 5. Fitting and adjustment: levelling, pitch setting (a 15–20% slope sheds light rain correctly), and precise programming of the motor's limit switches.
- 6. Handover: full tests with you, delivery of manuals and guarantee certificates, and practical advice on using the awning in windy weather.
Façade types: where our expertise shows
The Greater Paris region mixes every kind of construction: stone apartment buildings in central Paris, millstone villas in Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Le Vésinet, brick houses around Meaux, and recent externally insulated residences in Rueil-Malmaison or Massy. Each material demands its own anchoring technique and torque settings. Our fitters use reinforced mounting plates, resin-bonded threaded rods and, on fragile walls, load-spreading backplates. That rigour is why our awnings ride out winter storms without complaint — and why property managers and embassy facilities teams keep coming back to us.
How much does awning installation cost?
As a guide, supply and fitting included: a 3 m manual open awning starts from around €900; a 4 m motorised semi-cassette sits between €1,800 and €2,600; and a 5–6 m motorised full cassette with a wind sensor ranges from €3,000 to €4,500. Large commercial projects with personalised valances are priced individually. The quote is free, firm and without obligation.

Frequently asked questions about awning installation
Do I need permission to install a patio awning in France?
In a co-owned building (copropriété), approval from the managing agent or the general meeting is usually required, because the façade is a common part of the building. In protected areas or near a listed monument, a prior declaration to the town hall may also be needed. We guide you through these steps and provide the visuals for your file — and we can explain the process in English.
What projection should I choose for my terrace?
Allow a projection slightly greater than the depth of the area you want to shade: 2.50 m for a dining table, 3 to 4 m for a large south-facing terrace. During the survey we simulate the sun's path to determine the ideal projection.
Can an awning be fitted on an externally insulated façade?
Yes, provided special through-fixings with compression sleeves are used, transferring the load to the structural wall without crushing the insulation or creating a thermal bridge. We carry out this type of installation regularly on recent residences across the region.
How long between ordering and installation?
Made-to-measure manufacture takes two to four weeks on average, depending on the model and fabric. The fitting itself takes half a day for a standard awning, or a full day for wide spans and complex configurations.
